Does Allah Have Two Eyes? Does He See With Them? – Sheikh Abu Hakeem Bilal Davis

And this is the saying of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah. Abul-Hasan Al-Ash’aree said: The saying of Ahlus-Sunnah and the As-hāb Al-Hadeeth is that Allah has two eyes, without saying ‘how’ just as Allah has said, “[It was] sailing under Our Eyes.” (54:14).” Read more here; https://www.abukhadeejah.com/chapter-19-two-eyes-for-allah-al-harawee/

Abu Ismā’īl Al-Harawī (481H) with his narration to Anas ibn Mālik (رضي الله عنه) who said that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

مَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلاَّ وَقَدْ حذر أُمَّتَهُ الأَعْوَرَ الْكَذَّابَ أَلاَ إِنَّهُ أَعْوَرُ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَيْسَ بِأَعْوَرَ وَمَكْتُوبٌ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ ك ف ر

“There has not been a Prophet except that he warned his nation of the one-eyed liar. Behold that he is one-eyed and your Lord is not one-eyed. On his (the Dajjāl’s) forehead  are written the letters ka-fa-ra (i.e. kāfir).”

The words of Allah (interpretation of the meaning), “for verily, you are under Our Eyes” [at-Toor 52:48], were interpreted by some of the early generations as meaning “within Our vision or sight”; this is an explanation as dictated by the context, hence this verse confirms two things, the vision and eye of Allah.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Sharh al-Waasitiyyah: If it is asked: how do you explain the preposition bi in the phrase bi a‘yunina (translated above as “under Our eyes”, lit. “in our eyes”)? Our response is: we explain it as meaning that the eye is with or accompanying them. If you say “you are under my eye” it means my eye is accompanying you or, in other words, I am watching you and my gaze never shifts away from you. Hence what is meant is that Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, is saying to His Prophet: Be patient with the decree of Allah, for you are surrounded with Our care and We are watching you so that no one can harm you.

It does not refer to location (being “in” or “inside”), because that would imply that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was inside the eye of Allah! – which is impossible.

Moreover, this was addressed to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) when he was on earth, so if you were to say that he was in the eye of Allah, this interpretation of this verse of the Qur’an is not correct.

shaykh al-albanee said : I have the conviction that Allah has 2 eyes because the texts are clear on this, in the qur’an “you are under our eyes” (approximate translation of verse 48 of surah 52). The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam told the story of the dajjal and his exit towards the end of time, his word (of the prophet muhammad sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) “there is not a prophet without whom he has not put guard his community against the dajjal and I warn you against him, certainly he is one-eyed while your lord is not one-eyed “he (the prophet muhammad) ‘alayhi as sallam indicated towards his eye, in some versions (of hadith on the dajjal). The fact that the messenger describes the dajjal by this defect “one-eyed” makes it obligatory the fact that Allah has 2 eyes, this and other similar to this was said by the one of the salafs who said that Allah has 2 eyes. The verse that we quoted previously (approximate translation) “you are under Our eyes” even if what is aimed at is not “our eyes” as some who interpret (the divine attributes) think, it is only “you are under our sight (vision), under our guard ….”; even if this meaning is what is wanted (by this verse) but it makes the affirmation of this attribute of Allah obligatory.
